Oase

Oase is a work that questions photography’s relationship with the imaginary, with the things that bring me calm, protection, and transformation in my everyday life through the people I love and the environment that surrounds me. Imagination plays a central role in shaping this work; it flows through the mind, allowing me to rediscover reality and to imagine spaces of serenity and protection. In this process, fragments of childhood memories resurface, opening room for reflection and interpretation.

Through this project, I explore the narrative potential of images and their shifting meanings, while questioning how photography and imagination intersect within the ordinary and the familiar. The series, composed between 2023 and 2025, unfolds in diptychs drawn from journals I have kept since living in Aceh. I photograph my family and the surrounding environment that shapes my sense of calm. From these simple and everyday encounters, I search for anecdotes, visual poetry, traces, or situations that hold multiple layers of reading.

Oase emerges from a close observation of my living space and an inward journey — an attempt to understand how geography, time, relationships, and emotional connection can evolve into a source of life, through photographs that invite open interpretation.
